Pine Tree Hospice seeks volunteers

DOVER-FOXCROFT — Any compassionate adult with a little time to spare may become a Pine Tree Hospice volunteer. After completing training, volunteers may be placed with an appropriate client to provide many kinds of non-medical support. The kind of support depends on the needs and wishes of the client and the preferences and flexibility of the volunteer.
Hospice volunteers do not provide any medical support, but they do many other things such as visiting and chatting, helping with household chores, taking the client to an appointment or shopping, taking the client fishing or other outings, helping with yard work or repairs and providing respite for the family caregiver. Volunteers may choose their clients and the type of care they provide.
Pine Tree Hospice is a community-based, not-for-profit volunteer hospice that has provided service in 39 communities in Piscataquis, Somerset and Penobscot counties for 30 years. The need for volunteers is now greater than it has ever been.
The next volunteer training begins on March 16. Compassionate men and women who are able to give some of their time to support individuals and families on their end-of-life journey are encouraged to participate in this training and explore the possibility of making a difference in someone’s life. Potential volunteers should call 564-4346 or email wecare@pinetreehospice.org to apply. Visit the organization website for more information at www.pinetreehospice.org.
