Chadbourne leads FA at conference finals

ORONO — Senior sprinter Evan Chadbourne scored all eight of the Foxcroft Academy boys’ points during the 2017 Penobscot Valley Conference/Eastern Maine Indoor Track League Championship on Feb. 10 at the University of Maine. The eight points put the Ponies in a tie for 12th place with Hermon High School — a total of 15 Class A and B schools took part in the competition.
Chadbourne came in third in the 55 meters with a time of 6.83 seconds. Chadbourne and the rest of the field making up the 55 finals helped establish a new conference record as Washington Academy of East Machias senior Oneko Lowe won in 6.64 seconds. His time beat the hand-timed 6.4 seconds in the 60-yard dash set by Greg Harrison of Bucksport High School nearly four decades ago in 1979.
With a time of 24.36 seconds, Chadbourne came in fifth in the 200 to pick up his and Foxcroft’s other two points on Friday evening.
Chadbourne ran the first leg of the 11th place 4×200 relay team. He was followed by fellow senior Caleb Buerger and freshmen Cole Edgerly and Isaac Weymouth for a time of 1:56.69.
The Pony girls did not score in the team’s meet, tying the team with Washington, Sumner Memorial High School of East Sullivan and Mattanawcook of Lincoln behind 12 other schools.
A pair of Foxcroft relay teams ran with the 4×800 squad finishing in ninth place with a time of 12:57.70. This team was comprised of sophomore Sarasofia Stentardo, junior Virginia Macomber, freshman Sadie Avellar and junior Jordan Thomas.
The Pony 4×200 relay quartet came in 11th in a time of 2:09.12. Passing the baton was sophomore Jacki Pelletier, freshmen Chyeanne Skomars and Mackenzie Harmon and Stentardo.
