Something we agree on

To the editor:
I agree with the Professor Frary’s article in last week’s Observer “Gun Control Legislation often lacks hard facts”. I gather from his letter that he would be agreeable to getting more hard facts on the topic. Perhaps he will join me in asking our representatives in Congress to repeal the Dickey amendment that, since 1996, has effectively halted efforts to do proper research on gun violence in America.
Personally, I don’t have a strong stand either way. But it would help to have some really useful research — rather than a bunch of ideologues spouting their own “facts.” Professor, I’ll happily sign your petition to get some real research done on this issue.
