Letter: Poliquin understands Maine values

To the editor:

Congressman Bruce Poliquin has been working, non-stop, to help cut Washington’s spending, protect our freedoms, and lower taxes for Maine’s small businesses and families.

In fact, once elected Congressman Poliquin’s first speech on the House floor was in support of a balanced budget amendment to the United States Constitution. Congressman Poliquin stated, “This amendment will not only help lower taxes and interest rates, but it will help job creators expand their businesses and create more jobs for the Second District and beyond.”

He understands that Mainers balance their checkbooks every week and we are tired of Washington not doing the same.

Additionally, Congressman Bruce Poliquin has been a strong defender of our 2nd Amendment rights. If you remember, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms wanted to ban M855 5.56 x 45mm cartridges because they considered this ammunition as “armor-piercing” under their new framework. Now, we all know this Administration will go to great lengths to restrict our right to keep and bear arms.

Congressman Poliquin, a third-generation Mainer, understands our Maine values and traditions of using firearms responsibly. That’s why he worked to stop the administration from banning this ammunition.

Additionally, he held the administration accountable for when they pressured banks, under Operation Choke Point, to cut off accounts for select companies and stores, like federally licensed gun shops. Congressman Poliquin questioned these individuals and supported a bill that would end this executive overreach.

As Maine 2nd District Representative, Congressman Poliquin has had a lot of victories for Maine businesses, families, seniors and veterans. There is still much more work to be done, but with Congressman Poliquin in office; I know he will get it accomplished.

Please join me in supporting our Congressman, Bruce Poliquin, on November 8th.
