Dover Cove Farmers’ Market last day of the season is Oct. 29
DOVER-FOXCROFT — The Dover Cove Farmers’ Market is joining in the fun of Dover-Foxcroft’s Halloween BooNanza on Saturday, Oct. 29. Farmers will be in the Piscataquis Chamber of Commerce’s parking lot from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Free hot apple cider from Rollins Orchards and Leaves and Blooms’ donut holes will be available, in addition to the Center Coffee House’s coffee.
Saturday is the last chance this year to get to the Dover Cove Farmers’ Market. Farmers have brought in most of their harvests and planted their garlic. Orchards are pressing cider. It’s time to stock up on squash, potatoes, onions, carrots and cabbage. Debit, credit and EBT cards are welcome.
Maine Harvest Bucks issued by Dover Cove Farmers’ Market must be used by Oct. 29. These nutrition incentives can be redeemed for any fresh fruit or vegetables, including apple cider.
Many farmers offer CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) shares or other ways to access local foods through the winter. Talk to local farmers to learn how to store items for now and how to get more later. The support of local farms makes a difference all year long.
