Hunters’ group endorses Sen. Davis

AUGUSTA — Sen. Paul Davis (R-Sangerville), who is a candidate for reelection in Maine Senate District 4, has received an A+ rating and endorsement from the Sportsman’s Alliance of Maine (SAM).

SAM is the state’s largest sportsman’s organization with more than 10,000 members. In considering their ratings, SAM took a number of factors into consideration, such as the candidates’ stance on issues such as trapping, controlling the deer population, use of public lands and other hunting-related issues.

“Hunting and fishing are synonymous with Piscataquis County,” Davis said. “As an avid sportsman myself, it is truly an honor to have such a strong endorsement from SAM.

“There are always efforts by out of state groups to weaken our hunting and fishing rights, as well as our Second Amendment rights. SAM always leads the way in fighting these misguided efforts, and I am proud to have their support.”
