Pony X-C squad runs on home course

DOVER-FOXCROFT — The Foxcroft Academy cross country team hosted a Penobscot Valley Conference meet on Sept. 16, with the Pony boys placing third of four teams at 80 points. Foxcroft finished ahead of the 96 points accumulated by Lee Academy, and trailed meet winner John Bapst’s 16 and 48 for Hermon.

Sophomore Nicholas Daneman was the first Foxcroft runner to cross the finish line. Daneman covered the five kilometers in a time of 21 minutes, 31.61 seconds to place 10th in a field of 40 entrants.

Pony senior William Casey was right behind in 11th place at 21:33.78. Junior Kazuyuki Kawashima came in 17th at 23:05.93 and senior Ethan Poland was 20th at 23:19.96. Sophomore Yuseok Ko rounded out the Foxcroft scoring with his 27th-place in a time of 25:14.67.

Other Pony runners were junior Long Bui, 37th at 30:11.60; Nathaniel Skomars, 38th at 30:52.22; Yao Li, 39th at 34:36.24; and Khang Vu, 40th at 42:48.40.

In the girls’ race, Foxcroft junior Jordan Thomas finished fourth in a field of 38 entrants. Thomas covered the course in a time of 24:34.58.

Sophomore Khanh Vu was 27th at 45:00.77.

In the team standings, John Bapst was first at 25 points and Hermon came in second with 30 points.
