Back to School Bike Rodeo Sept. 24

DOVER-FOXCROFT — The Maine Highland Senior Center, Thriving in Place Collaborative (TIP), Piscataquis Regional YMCA and Dover-Foxcroft Kiwanis are collaborating on a Back-to-School Bike Rodeo to be held at the PRYMCA at 48 Park Street on the morning of Saturday, Sept. 24.

The event is part of the Senior Center’s Fall Prevention Week activities. The bike rodeo is open to first- or second- graders in RSU 68. The first 25 kids at the bike rodeo will receive a free helmet courtesy of the Dover-Foxcroft Kiwanis.

“It’s back to school time and we know that there are more kids out on their bikes going to and from school,” said Rod Willey, the PRYMCA’s executive director. “We’re happy to be working with the Kiwanis, TIP and the Maine Highlands Senior Center to help kids become safer on their bikes. Fall Prevention Week usually focuses on older adults, but we wanted to include something for children as well.”

No advance registration is required and there is no charge. The rodeo will start promptly at 10 a.m. at the PRYMCA parking lot. For more information on the bike rodeo or any of the PRYMCA programs or services, call the PR YMCA at 564-7111 or visit the facility.

The PRYMCA is dedicated to promoting healthy spirit, mind and body for all through programs and services grounded in the core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
