Parkman Grange to award 2016 Minnie Welts Bridge Scholarships

PARKMAN — The public is invited to join Parkman Grange members for the fifth annual Minnie Welts Bridge Memorial Scholarship Supper on Saturday, Aug. 6. From 4:30 until 6:30 p.m., attendees will enjoy smoked pork loin, baked beans, salads and an ice cream sundae bar and learn who is receiving this year’s scholarship awards. All proceeds from the dinner will benefit the scholarship fund.

Bridge was a lifelong resident of Parkman, a retired school teacher and a life member of the Parkman Grange. The Grange established the Minnie Welts Bridge Memorial Scholarship Fund to support deserving Parkman residents continuing their education beyond high school and to honor her memory. Scholarships are awarded annually, funded through donations and the annual supper in Bridge’s name. To date, the Grange has awarded $5,000 in scholarships to deserving Parkman students.

The Parkman Grange is located at the four corners. Reservations are not required to enjoy a great Grange supper. For more information, contact Susan Manchester at 277-3942.
