The Foxcroft Academy boys finished in second place out of a field of nine schools during a May 19 meet at the University of Maine. The Ponies picked up 177 points, trailing only the 217 points picked up by host Orono and about four times as many as that of third-place Washington Academy’s 44 points.

Zachary Caron, Nathaniel Church and Hunter Smith combined for seven first-place finishes.

Caron won both the long and triple jumps with respective distances of 19 feet, 2.5 inches and 40-03 and he took top pole vault honors at a height at 10-09.

Church swept the 100 and 200 with times of 11.67 and 23.32 seconds. Smith was the meet winner in the 110 hurdles at 16.34 seconds and the high jump at 6-01.

Brandon Brock added a first-place finish for Foxcroft, with the day’s top shot put throw at 42-00.50.

Pony second-place performances were Evan Chadbourne in the 100 at 12.07 seconds; Smith in the 200 at 24.02 seconds and triple jump at 39-08.25; Caron in the high jump at 6-01; Max Santagata in the javelin at 130-08; and Cody Strout in the shot at 37-06.50.

Chandler Dow was third in the 110 hurdles with a time of 19.73 seconds as was Chadbourne in the 200 at 24.21 seconds, Brock in the discus at 111-01 and Hyatt Smith in the pole vault at 9-03.

Foxcroft’s fourth-place performers were the 4×100 relay team (Dustin Simmons, Owen Booker, Jacob Diamond and Minh Phan) at 51.93 seconds, Santagata in the high jump at 5-03, Hyatt Smith in the triple jump at 37-06, Brock in the javelin at 126-07 and Strout in the discus at 100-10.

Santagata was fifth in the 110 hurdles with a time of 19.88 seconds and Hyatt Smth came in fifth in the high jump at 5-01. Phan had the meet’s sixth-best long jump distance at 16-09.50.

The boys from Dexter finished in fourth place with a score of 29 points.

Christopher Roderka had the fastest time in the 3,200 at 11:28.59, winning by over 41 seconds.

Tanner Hall came in third in the shot at 36-04, and fifth in the event was Sean Lockhart with a throw of 32-03.50. Lockhart also came in sixth in the javelin at 119-00.

Isaiah Hesseltine placed third in the 400 at 59.72 seconds, and Jacob Hesseltine was sixth at 60.67 seconds.

Zach White came in fifth in the 100 at 12.38 seconds, and coming in sixth in the high jump was Jason Campbell at 4-11.

The Penquis boys picked up eight points to place eighth.

Josh Martin placed fourth in the long jump at a distance of 17-02.50, and Tyler Pardue finished fifth in the event at 17-00.75. Martin added a fifth-place throw in the javelin at 119-09.

In the girls’ meet, the Foxcroft girls came in third out of nine schools with 49 points.

Emily Mikoud had the day’s top throws in both the shot and the discus at 32-00.50 and 115-10. She also finished third in the 100 at 13.80 seconds and Mikoud was fourth in the 200 at 29.14 seconds.

Jennifer Clawson ran the fastest 3,200-time at 13:53.80.

Renee Smith came in third in the shot at 26-00.50. Brigid Casey placed fifth in the 400 at 1:13.73 and Avery Nelson was sixth in the discus at 75-04.

The Dexter girls finished fourth at UMaine with 40 points.

Danielle Cummings was second in both the 100 and 200 at 13.70 and 27.85 seconds. She also anchored the second-place 4×100 relay, joining Autumn Irwin, Lily Cummings and Katie Batron for a time of 56.58 seconds.

Rebecca Batron was fourth in both the 100 hurdles at 22.25 seconds and the shot at 25-08. Katie Batron came in fifth at 100 and 200 meters with respective times of 14.12 and 29.49 seconds. Kaitlyn Paquin added a fifth-place performance in the discus at 75-09.

Penquis finished seventh with 24 points.

Kayla Harmon won the javelin by over four feet with a top throw of 82-11.

Jordan Durant picked up the other 14 points for the Patriots. Durant was third in the triple jump at 30-02 and she was fourth in the 100 and long jump with a time of 14.09 seconds and at a distance of 14-02.

Placing eighth at Orono was PCHS with a score of 17 points.

Haylee Patterson came in second in the shot at 28-05.25, and she was also sixth in the javelin at exactly 73 feet.

Lexi Harris finished third in the 100 hurdles with a time of 20.52 seconds. She also anchored the Pirate 4×100 relay, following Hannah Bagley, Cahrey Harris and Bailey Lemieux to finish fifth at 1:03.17.

On May 21 Greenville was at Old Town with the Laker boys finishing eighth of eight teams with six points.

The Greenville 4×800 relay finished in third place with a time of 10:23.01, and the squad was made up of Ben Baldwin, John Watt, Trajdan MacFadyen and Parker Richards.

The Laker girls were also eighth of eight with a score of six points.

Ava Henderson accounted for the half dozen points by placing third in the racewalk, with a time of 11:44.65.
