DOVER-FOXCROFT — It’s a call no one ever wants to receive. But on May 10, Tim and Lisa Boone and Alli and Abbi Bourget, Lisa’s daughters and juniors at Foxcroft Academy, were contacted and given devastating news there was a terrible fire; their house and everything in it was gone.

Residents of Dover-Foxcroft knew by the sound of dozens of screaming sirens and emergency vehicles approaching from every direction that something big was happening. From most parts of Dover-Foxcroft, smoke could be seen filling the blue sky.

The Boone/Bourget family lost all of their belongings, two beloved pets and a new car just a few days old, purchased as a surprise for Alli and Abbi by their father Al. Hanging in their closets were their beautiful prom dresses — and just a few days before prom.

Thankfully, the Boone/Bourget family live in a community that rallies around residents in need, especially when tragedies occur. This tragedy is no different.

Donations have already started to pour in from family and friends, and some local business owners are rallying to help in any way they can. Foxcroft Academy has become a hub for donation drop-offs and has generously pledged financial contributions.

On Monday, May 23, a community fundraiser will be held at the Foxcroft Academy gymnasium from 5 to 7 p.m. A delicious dinner — admission by donation — will be offered to those who attend, including pasta, meatballs and garlic bread. There will be a silent auction and a 50/50 raffle, and live music playing throughout the evening. The food has been generously donated by Will’s Shop n’ Save, and the chef for the evening is Seth Ostrosky of the Nor’Easter Restaurant and his team.

Anyone with a desire to help this family is welcome to attend. Monetary donations can also be sent to MHFCU, c/o Michelle Patterson, PO BOX 697, Guilford, ME 04443 or dropped off to any Maine Highlands Federal Credit Union Branch, with checks made out to “Benefit of Tim & Lisa Boone”.
