Mayo awarded PX Achievement Award

DOVER-FOXCROFT — Sound Physicians announced that Mayo Regional Hospital is the winner of the PX Achievement Award in Q1 2016. The PX Achievement Award is awarded quarterly to a hospital in the eastern U.S. for superior patient experience (PX). Patient experience is evaluated based on a systematic approach to surveying patients regarding their hospital stay, including their provider’s ability to explain and communicate and listen to their needs.

PX ACHIEVEMENT AWARD Mayo Regional Hospital in Dover-Foxcroft recently received a PX Achievement Award for superior patient experience. From left are David McDermott, medical director; Denise Scuderi, VP Patient Care Services; and Drs. Zaher Oueida and Robert Maxson of the Sound Physician’s Mayo Team.

With nearly 40 Sound Physicians’ hospitals in the eastern part of the country, this award is competitive and a significant accomplishment for any hospital. Winners of the PX Achievement Award are recognized with a banner at their hospital site and a celebratory lunch for the provider team. The banner is currently on display on the medical unit at Mayo Regional Hospital.

Sound providers are hospitalists. Sometimes called an “inpatient physician,” a hospitalist is a physician who focuses exclusively on the care of hospitalized patients. While one’s primary care physician remains in communication with the hospitalist team, he or she usually is not the physician a patient sees while in Mayo Regional Hospital.
