Drinkwater helps Husson reach NCAA tourney

BANGOR — Greenville resident Miranda Drinkwater, a graduate of Greenville High School, was a member of the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) championship Husson University women’s basketball team during the 2015-16 season. The junior guard appeared in 27 games for the Eagles, averaging nearly eight minutes per appearance and 1.3 points a game.

Husson finished the year with an overall record of 21-7, going 17-1 in NAC play. The conference mark included a 58-49 victory vs. Castleton (Vermont) State College in the NAC championship, Husson’s first such crown since 2011 and third in program history.

As champions of the NAC, the Eagles earned a berth in the NCAA Div. III tournament. Husson fell in the opening round, 76-46, vs. ninth-ranked Albright College of Reading, Pa. in a game played in Montclair, N.J.
