Atkinson making new memorial

The Atkinson Cemetery Corporation is pleased to announce that we are in the process of rebuilding our Honor Roll. We are currently accepting names of Atkinson veterans who served our country in times of war and times of peace, and wish to have their names added to the new Honor Roll.

If you or your loved one has served in any branch of the United States Military, and would like to be added to the Honor Roll, please send name, rank, years served, war served in and KIA status if applicable, to the Atkinson Cemetery Corporation c/o Town of Atkinson, 102N Stagecoach Rd, Atkinson, ME. 04426.

Due to time constraints all names must be received no later than March 15, 2016.

Please note that those names that are on the current Honor Roll will automatically be transferred to the new one.

The Honor Roll will be the centerpiece of the newly expanded Atkinson Veterans Memorial. There will be a dedication ceremony open to all veterans as well as to the public.The date and time will be published in the Observer prior to the event.

Due to the high cost of building materials, monetary donations toward the project would be greatly appreciated. All labor will be done free of charge by volunteers. If you would like to help support this noble endeavor, please send donations to the above address, payable to The Atkinson Cemetery Corporation.
