Backwoods for Bernie

To the Editor;

I’m voting for Presidential Candidate Bernie Sanders on March 6th and if you care about your job or our economy, I suggest you do too.

To quote a recent commentary by Robert Reich, former Secretary of Labor … Hillary Clinton “may be the most qualified candidate for president of the political system we now have. But Bernie Sanders is the most qualified candidate to create the political system we should have because he’s leading a political movement for change. The upcoming election isn’t about detailed policy proposals. It’s about power—whether those who have it will keep it or whether the average Americans will get some as well” … Sanders is “leading a grass-roots ‘political revolution’ to regain control over our democracy and economy.”

In the first week of February, Sanders held a press conference at the same time the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) “free-trade” agreement was being signed in New Zealand by representatives of the 12 participating countries. He strongly voiced his opposition and committed to doing what he can to kill the deal if he is elected president.

He remarked during the press conference that, “since 2001, nearly 60,000 manufacturing plants in this country have been shut down and we have lost over 4.7 million manufacturing jobs’ … If the workers find new jobs at all, they are usually low-paying. ‘Trade is a good thing. But trade has got to be fair. And the TPP is anything but fair….As your president, not only will I make sure that the TPP does not get implemented, I will not send any trade deal to Congress that will make it easier for corporations to outsource American jobs overseas.”
