Thank you Sangerville residents

To the Editor;

The Sangerville Town Selectman require a petition to be circulated to get a census as to what percentage of the citizens of the town and how they feel about the warrant article in question, before they will put an article on the warrant in front of the citizens to be voted on.

In other words, a petition is taking a census as to what percentage of the residents in the town of Sangerville agree with the article in question and think the article should be put in front of the registered voters to be voted on.

As I went randomly from house to house, knocking door to door not knowing what to expect, I was very pleased to find that over 95 percent of the people that I visited in Sangerville some of whom I have never met, was very kind, polite and friendly. They invited me into their homes. I have lived in many different towns in my lifetime and I have never met such a nice bunch of people as in Sangerville.

I am grateful and proud to live in such a nice town as Sangerville. In my quest for signatures on the recall petition I saw 138 people and 130 of them gladly signed the petition. Most of the other eight that did not sign were also very polite. The numbers of this census show that this town is not as divided as some people might think it is.

According to the census, the division is just over 95 percent of us to just under 5 percent of us. The issue is that 80 to 90 percent of the voters in Sangerville do not come to the Annual Town Meeting to vote.

I would like to thank all of the Sangerville residents for their kindness and participating in this matter. Now we need to get you all to the March 26, 2016 Town Meeting to let your voice be heard by way of your vote. The recall ordinance is a very important matter and I hope to see you at the annual Town Meeting.
