Center Theatre calls for February one-acts

DOVER-FOXCROFT — The Slightly Off-Center Players and the Center Theatre for the Performing Arts are seeking directors and actors interested in presenting a one-act play at the Center Theatre on Feb. 26, 27 and 28. The one-acts will be performed along with Foxcroft Academy’s one-act play “Cheating Death” written by Kamron Klitgaard and directed by Derrick Buschmann. The theme of the one-acts this year is “Death and Shakespeare.”

“We like to have a theme that gives people a lot of space to work within.” said the Theatre’s Executive Director Patrick Myers. “We’re encouraging people to think outside the box and bring us their ideas.”

Interested directors or actors should contact Wendy Voter at the Center Theatre to discuss their ideas and sign up. There is no minimum length for the proposed pieces, but all must run under 30 minutes. Rehearsal schedule and production royalties will be the responsibility of the director. Rehearsals can begin as soon as the director has a cast. The theatre will be available for rehearsals depending on their existing schedule. All one-acts will begin tech rehearsals at the Center Theatre on Wednesday, Feb. 24.

The Center Theatre is a non-profit performing arts venue dedicated to making the arts a part of life in the Maine Highlands and is celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2016.
