Pony indoor track opens the season

ORONO — The Foxcroft Academy indoor track and field team began the 2015-16 Penobscot Valley Conference/Eastern Maine Indoor Track League season with a Dec. 19 meet at the University of Maine. The Pony boys finished third of six schools with 64 points, and the girls’ squad from Foxcroft came in sixth place with a score of 15 points.

Senior Cooper Nelson was the meet winner in the mile, running the event in a time of 4 minutes, 50.65 seconds. Classmate Gabe Piquette was fourth in the event at 5:12.71. Piquette and Nelson were also second and third at two miles with respective times of 11:17.46 and 11:22.66.

Senior Nathaniel Church had the second-best performance in the long jump as he covered a distance of 18 feet, 1.5 inches. Church was also third in the 55 with a time of 6.99 seconds. Right behind Church was junior Evan Chadbourne at 7.16 seconds and then junior Jason Eubanks in fifth place at 7.31 seconds.

Chadbourne came in third in the 200 with a time of 25.45 seconds, and placing fourth in the event was junior Chandler Rockwell at 25.45 seconds. Senior Paul Birtwistle was fourth in the 400 at 59.15 seconds, and junior Riley Poisson added a fifth-place finish in the long jump at 16-05.50.

In the girls’ competition, Foxcroft junior Desirae Brawn placed third in the shot put with a top throw of 27-10.50.

Sophomore Jordan Thomas came in fourth in the mile at 6:35.01. Junior Erika Chadbourne, Thomas and freshmen Hannah Sprecher and Isabella Santagata together were fourth in the 4×200 relay with a time of 2:14.88.

 

Chadbourne added a point by placing sixth in the 200, at 32.12 seconds.
