EMDC honors Dover-Foxcroft as Community of the Year

BANGOR — Last week Eastern Maine Development Corporation (EMDC) honored its 2015 champions. Those individuals or businesses who have gone above and beyond in their efforts to not only support the mission of EMDC but also make this region and better place to live and work.

New this year is the honoring of a community. EMDC is pleased to name Dover-Foxcroft as the 2015 Community of the Year. In 2007 Dover-Foxcroft was faced with a mill shut down and a decision. Today, after investments of more than $11 million dollars in both public and private funding, Dover-Foxcroft has completed a mill revitalization project that has revitalized the region.

This project was the first of its kind in Piscataquis County and created an economic hub of several businesses including a boutique hotel, a café, residential apartments and a data center. The effort undertaken by the residents of this community with the leadership of the municipal staff was amazing and the results were fantastic. Because of this effort, EMDC officials are pleased to name Dover-Foxcroft the Community of the Year.
