PRYMCA Waves take to the pool

DOVER-FOXCROFT — The Piscataquis Regional YMCA Waves swim team hosted the Sanford-Springvale YMCA Titans on Dec. 5. The Waves boys placed first with 87 points, while girls placed second with 121 points. The Waves team has grown this season to include 33 swimmers, a great mix of both young and more experienced swimmers.

Waves swimmers turning in first-place finishes were Payton Barbro in the 50 free and 50 breast; Preston Barbro in the 25 free; Avery Carroll in the 100 breast; Jenna Clukey in the 100 free; Garett Cooley in the 50 free and 100 back; Abby Henderson in the 100 free; Riley Inch in the 50 free; Abby Kemp in the 100 IM; Hunter Kemp in the 50 free, 50 back and 50 breast; Olivia McCorrison in the 50 breast; Hannah Vail in the 50 fly; Amy Waugh in the 100 back; Peyton Wellman in the 100 IM; and Jaxson Zimmerman in the 25 back.

Payton Barbro, Preston Barbro, Cooley, Sam Gidman, Elise Inch, Riley Inch, Abby Kemp, Alicia London, McCorrison, Lilley Povak, Gwyneth Rhoda, Eli Swanson, Hannah Vail, Diana Vail, Waugh, Peyton Wellman and Meriel Willey all had best times at the meet.

The swimmer taking the most time from their previous best time gets recognized as the “Biggest Loser”. The top female swimmer taking the most time off a previous best time during the meet was Povak, who took a combined total of 19.67 seconds off her 50 free and 50 back times.

Runner-up for females was Willey who took a combined total of 13.13 seconds off her 50 free and 50 back times.

The top male swimmer was Wellman who took off a combined time of 9.61 seconds off his 100 IM and 50 butterfly times. Runner-up for males was Eli Swanson who took a combined total of 8.42 seconds off his 50 free and 50 back times.
