Maine Credit Union League’s 14th annual End Hunger Walking Tour stops at Maine Savings in Milo
MILO – With Maine ranked first for food insecurity in New England and 12th in the nation, the Maine Credit Union League and Cross Roads Ministries in Old Town have teamed up once again for the 14th annual End Hunger Walking Tour to show solidarity and support for those suffering from hunger. The walking tour serves as a fundraiser and a representation of a problem worsened in rural areas, which lack adequate transportation for those otherwise forced to walk long distances for food.

The End Hunger Walking Tour, which began on Oct. 22 in Old Town, made its second of three scheduled stops at Maine Savings locations on Nov. 24, visiting the Milo branch before continuing the final leg of its journey through central and eastern Maine.
Each year, credit unions throughout Maine participate in the tour, which follows Cross Roads Ministries Executive Director Brenda Davis along a 1,800-mile fundraising route through all 16 counties in support of local food banks, pantries and other critically-needed food distribution resources.
“Food insecurity is a significant issue here in Maine, and as a local company created to fulfill the needs of our community, it is our duty to help in any way we can,” said John Reed, president and CEO of Maine Savings Federal Credit Union. “We are proud to join Cross Roads Ministries, the Maine Credit Union League, and fellow credit unions in helping our friends and neighbors to access the resources they need in order to prosper.”
The End Hunger Walking Tour made its third and final Maine Savings stop at the Bar Harbor branch on Nov. 30, before concluding in Brewer on Dec. 2.
