Road race news

          

Over a half dozen runners from the region took part in the fifth annual MAINEiacs Charities Half-Marathon and 5K on Sept. 27 in Bangor.

In the 5K race David Stanhope, 52 of Exeter, placed 32nd out a field of 115 entrants with a time of 27 minutes, 17 seconds. Judy Snow, 60 of Dover-Foxcroft, came in 67th at 33:28.

In the half-marathon, Heather Gudroe, 37 of Dexter, placed 18th out of 81 runners in a time of 1:50.28. Erika Wellman, 34 of LaGrange, was 42nd at 2:04.57, and placing 49th was Carolyn Goetz, 30 of Greenville at 2:08.16. Also taking part was Kristy Fogler, 37 of Exeter, 53rd at 2:11.52; Bob Clark, 64 of Dexter, 61st at 2:21.31; and Tracy Glidden, 50 of Dexter, 64th at 2:23.32.

On Oct. 4 Wellman ran in the Maine Marathon in Cumberland County. Wellman covered the 26.2 miles in a chiptime of 4:38.41 to place 566th out of a field of 724.

Seven residents of the region ran in accompanying half-marathon. John Lemieux, 70 of Sangerville, ran this 13.1 miles in a chiptime of 1:46.20. He was 309th out of 1,764 to cross the end line, finishing as the men’s age 70-74 runner-up and sixth among male 60-plus runners.

The other half dozen were Kathleen Dixon-Wallace, 49 of Milo, 1,015th at 2:08.29; Pattie Ottmann, 55 of LaGrange, 1,018th at 2:08.30; Carrie Lumbra, 60 of Milo, 1,587th at 2:45.58; Cindy Obrey, 51 of Sangerville, 1,599th at 2:47.10; Charles Larson, 55 of Dover-Foxcroft, 1,608th at 3:04.29; and Dana Larson, 41 of Dover-Foxcroft, 1,609th at 3:04.30.
