FA cross country runs with New England’s best

BELFAST — The Foxcroft Academy cross country team had the opportunity to compete with some of the best runners and teams from Maine, New England and beyond during the 2015 Maine Cross Country Festival of Champions on Oct. 3 at Troy Howard Middle School.

The Pony boys finished the competition with 1,313 points to place 49th out of 64 teams. In the combined results, senior Gabe Piquette placed 120th out of a field of 811 finishers. Piquette covered the five kilometers in 18 minutes, 24.57 seconds.

Next to cross the finish line for Foxcroft was freshman Nicholas Daneman, who was 283rd overall in a time of 19:40.01. Junior Liam Casey came in 326th with a time of 19:53.57. Rounding out the Pony top five was senior Hunter Giacomuzzi, 421st at 20:43.61, and junior Ethan Poland, 519th at 21:32.29.

Sophomore Kazu Kawashima placed 539th with a time of 21:40.47. Senior Blaine Robinson finished 753rd at 25:15.83.

In the girls’ race, Foxcroft senior came in 94th out of 614 finishers. Clawson covered the course in a time of 21:22.29.

Junior Sujeong Kim was 537th at 28:24.98.
