GUILFORD — For the Foxcroft Academy field hockey team, the second half of the 2015 regular season followed the same pattern as the first seven games with the Ponies earning a victory in game No. 8 to improve to 8-0. On Sept. 25 the team traveled to neighboring Piscataquis Community High School (5-2) in the only meeting of the year between the Class B and C North programs and the Ponies departed with a 6-0 victory.

In the first half Foxcroft had 10 penalty corners — the Ponies ended up with a 21-5 advantage over the full 60 minutes — before the team could find the opposition’s goal. On the 11th penalty corner senior Madi Fadley put the ball in play from the left and soon after junior Alli Bourget passed the ball back to Fadley. The senior fired off a shot from the right that landed inside the left post at the 5:41-mark as the Ponies were able to capitalize on the corner advantage.

With just over a minute to play before intermission Foxcroft was awarded its 14th corner of the first half. Fadley passed the ball in from the left of the Pirate goal to junior Abbi Bourget, who shot the ball in from the left side for Pony goal No. 2. The twin sisters would end up having a hand in five of the their team’s half dozen goals.

Alli Bourget had her first goal just under four minutes into the second half, as she brought the ball down the right side of the field and into the corner where she converted on a tough angle shot. About seven and a half minutes later she again broke away from the defense, and this time cut toward the middle of the field for a shot that found the mark for a 4-0 advantage.
