MILO & DOVER-FOXCROFT – It is with heavy hearts that the family of Susan Lancaster shares that she has succumbed to her year-long battle with lung cancer. Susan was born to Basil and Dorothy (Eddy) Andrews of Atkinson in 1957.
She attended Penquis Valley High School, Milo, graduating in 1975. She then attended St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Lewiston in 1978. Upon graduation, she began a nursing career lasting 37 years at Mayo Regional Hospital. In 1983, Susan married Vaughan Lancaster of Milo, and together, along with Teddy, they traveled the world going on adventures and seeing many new places. In 1998, Susan completed Massage Therapy School and embarked on a second career as a massage therapist.
Susan will be remembered as a wife, daughter, sister and aunt, as well as helper, healer, friend and matchmaker. She loved and got in touch with her spiritual side through her hikes up Borestone Mountain, and into Gulf Hagas, the change in seasons, and the many other places of beauty to which she traveled. Her favorite place was her cottage on Garland Pond.
Susan is survived by her husband of 32 years, Vaughan, along with Nera Lou; her parents, Dorothy and Basil Andrews; her sisters, Janice and Linda; brothers, Sam (Martha), and David. She was an aunt to Holly (Shaun), Mark (Autumn), and Jonathan (Lynn); a great-aunt to Zoey, Kolton, Kaden and Hannah. She leaves many aunts, uncles, cousins, and her dear friend, Pam (George). She is also survived by her brothers-in-law, Willis (Janice), John (Donna); sister-in-law, Shannon (John); and many nieces and nephews. Sue will be missed by so many friends and acquaintances. She was predeceased by her mother- and father-in-law, Willis and Betty Lancaster of Milo.
