Margaret “Peggy” Haber

HABER, Margaret “Peggy”, 101, Dover-Foxcroft and Melbourne, FL, at Melbourne, FL, September 21, 2015. Burial will be in the family lot in Willimantic Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home, Dover-Foxcroft.


DOVER-FOXCROFT & MELBOURNE, FL – Margaret “Peggy” Haber died September 21, 2015, in Melbourne, FL, just thirty days short of her 102nd birthday.

Peggy was born in Fall River, MA, on October 20, 1913, and moved to Maine in the late 1950s. She and her husband, Carl, owned and operated the Covered Bridge Motel in Guilford and Riverside Florist in Dover-Foxcroft. Peggy later worked at the Blethen House in Dover-Foxcroft.

In Maine, she was active in Order of the Eastern Star, serving as Worthy Matron of the Miriam Chapter No. 40 in Dover-Foxcroft in 1973. She retired to Florida in 1989.

Peggy was predeceased by her husband. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sally and Bill Colby of Syracuse, NY; daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Bill Babash of Cary, NC; four grandchildren, Carl Palmer and his wife, Lois, Sheryl Palmer, Bill Babash and his wife, Whitney, and Amy Bechle and her husband, David; and six great-grandchildren.

Burial will be in the family lot in Willimantic Cemetery. Arrangements are by Lary Funeral Home in Dover-Foxcroft. Condolences and memories may be expressed at www.laryfuneralhome.com.
