Proposed National Park land
To the editor:
Have you been to the proposed national park land yet? What a beautiful area with a rich history. We had some friends, from Pennsylvania, visit this summer and we took them camping and kayaking around Aroostook and to the proposed park land.
Because of our time on the East Branch of the Penobscot, our friends were inspired to learn more about the history of northern Maine and they are very excited to come back next year for some more outdoor fun.
With summer about over and autumn coming up, it might be the perfect time to visit this gem, right in our back yard. Maybe you’ll spend a day driving through and enjoying the postcard scenery. Maybe you’ll want to go canoeing, kayaking or fishing. Maybe camping or hiking is more your thing. Either way, you will be wowed by this special area that deserves our protection for future generations.
I encourage you to learn more about this generous offer of land for a national park, to learn more about the rich history of northern Maine and to make some time, this fall, to enjoy the greatest forest in the East.
