Restoring second floor of town hall

SANGERVILLE — The Sangerville Historical Society has called for a meeting on Sept. 22 at 6:30 p.m. to explore the possibility of restoring the second floor of the town hall so that is can be used for town events and meetings. The event is expected to be held in the Community Room.

The Sangerville Town Hall is architecturally similar to Central Hall in Dover-Foxcroft which is currently undergoing restoration. The exploratory meeting is open to everyone interested in the hall and its potential future uses.

Speakers will inform those attending of the role that the town hall second floor played in the past. Basketball games, dances, play rehearsals and town meeting were a part of the second floor’s history.

The lack of an elevator to provide handicapped access has been the greatest deterrent to continued use of the hall.
