CWC staff earn MHRT-C certification

DOVER-FOXCROFT — Two dozen Charlotte White Center staff have become Mental Health Rehab Technician/Community (MHRT-C ) certified, graduating from the training program on Aug. 19. The Department of Health and Human Services Office of Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services (DHHS/SAMHS) and the Muskie School of Public Service created the curriculum and Charlotte White Center staff is being trained by Stephanie Truman of Amethyst Training & Consulting.

People who work in the MHRT/C role provide services to adults with severe and persistent mental illness. These services include community integration, intensive case management, assertive community treatment, skills development, day support services and family psycho-education.

The graduates have taken an extensive course load over the past 18 months and have earned Full MHRT/C certification after successfully completing 10 courses: Introduction to Community Mental Health; Psychosocial Rehabilitation; Interviewing and Counseling; Crisis Identification and Resolution; Cultural Competency/Diversity; Vocational Aspects of Disability; Substance Abuse with a Dual Diagnosis Component; Sexual Abuse, Trauma, and Recovery; Case Management; and Mental Health and Aging.
