Theater pulls off great show
To the Editor:
Center Theatre has done it again.
The theatre’s performance of “Beauty and the Beast” is as good as it gets. The tuneful musical numbers, choreography, pyrotechnics, and artful lighting are first rate. The cast of two dozen youngsters deliver their lines with precision and gusto. The stage setting would be the envy of many larger venues.
Much of the success of the play is owed to the expertise and efforts of its director, 17-year-old Mitchell Chasse. A certified “theater rat,” Mitchell has been part of the Center Theatre family for several years. The breadth of his expertise and experience is reflected in the list of functions he assumed in the staging of the play.
It is usual to describe a youth performance as “excellent for a kids’ show.” In this case, no such qualifier is needed. “Beauty and the Beast” is an excellent show, period.
