Bessie Bush

BUSH, Bessie, 87, Dover-Foxcroft, August 7, 2015. A funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m., Wednesday, August 12, at the Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the care of the Lary Funeral Home, Dover-Foxcroft.

Bessie Bush

    DOVER-FOXCROFT – Bessie Bush, 87, wife of the late A. Steward Bush, passed away August 7, 2015, in Dover-Foxcroft, after a long battle with cancer. She was born April 6, 1928, in Milo, the daughter of Floyd and Lula (Hoskins) Grant.
    She attended schools in Milo, and after moving to Dover-Foxcroft in 1942, attended Foxcroft Academy. Bessie had worked many years as a caregiver at Mayo Memorial Hospital, Hibbard Nursing Home, and Bishop Boarding Home. She was also involved with the ambulance service. She worked at C.F. Hathaway Shirt Co. for a few years, but never gave up her nursing.
    Bessie was a member of the Order of Eastern Star for over 20 years, and a volunteer at the Piscataquis YMCA, helping with the P.C. Club. She enjoyed swimming, long walks, sewing doll clothes, making teddy bears, painting, playing her electric organ, cooking, working in her flower gardens, jigsaw puzzles, and especially, playing bingo. She was a member of the Methodist Church for over thirty years, and had liked attending the Church of the Nazarene in her later years.
    She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, A. Steward Bush; and both of her sons, Terry Bush and Mike Bush.
    She is survived by a grandson, Chad Bush and his wife, Tara, of Guilford; a granddaughter, Holly King and partner, Bruce Bickford, of Pittsfield; her great-grandchildren, Kerstie (Bush) Hunter and her husband, Orion, of Bangor, Dylan Paradise, Hailey Bush, Chad Bush, Jr., and Lilly Bush; and a great-great-granddaughter, Freya Hunter of Bangor. She also leaves her daughter-in-law, Ann (Bush) Parsons and her husband, David; her oldest sister, Mary Libby of CT; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
    Friends are invited to call 2-3 p.m., Wed., Aug. 12, 2015, at the Lary Funeral Home, Dover-Foxcroft, where a funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m., with Rev. Robert Herring officiating. Burial will be in the family lot in Lee Cemetery, Dover-Foxcroft.
