Ginny Doll show and tell
DEXTER — On Wednesday, Aug. 12 the Abbott Memorial Library will host a presentation on the history and development of the Ginny Doll.

This childhood favorite of the 1950s is fondly remembered today by legions of baby boomers. Started as a cottage industry by a Massachusetts woman, the Ginny Doll grew to become a nationally bestselling toy for millions of American girls in the 1950s. Tina Jowdy of Dexter will host the program and help participants with identification of their dolls and the date of their manufacture.
Area women are encouraged to search their attics and dig out their Ginny Dolls along with their specialized wardrobes and accessories and bring them to the library at 6 p.m. on Aug. 12. Refreshments will be served.
