Road race news

Six runners from the region were among the 517 to take part in the 35th annual Walter Hunt 3K on the Fourth of July from Brewer to Bangor.

Placing 47th was Stuart Hedstrom, 32, of Dover-Foxcroft, in a time of 11 minutes, 35.4 seconds. In 110th place was Mary Ann McQueen-Jelley, 34, of Charleston, in 13:10.9 with Rick Jelley, 36, of Charleston, immediately following at 13:11.4

Finishing 116th was Chris Almy, 66, of Charleston, in a time of 13:18.7. David Stanhope, 51, of Exeter, placed 206th at 15:17.9, and Shawn Wagner, 17, of Exeter, was 388th at 18:57.4.

In Freeport on Independence Day, Maryanna Ray, 35, of Dexter, placed 82nd of 1,242 entrants in the LL Bean 10K. Ray ran a time of 41:57. Darcie Sands, 37, of Dover-Foxcroft, placed 998th in the race at 1:04.40.

In Winthrop Raul Siren, 70, of Brighton Plantation, was 141st in a field of 611 in the Friends on the 4th 5K. Siren ran a time of 24:15.6.
