Foxcroft Academy students excel on National Spanish Examinations

DOVER-FOXCROFT — Seven Foxcroft Academy students have attained national recognition for their excellent performance on the 2015 National Spanish Examinations.

Senior Julian Zepeda scored 89 percent to earn a Silver Medal, sophomore Bonnie Page received a Bronze Medal for scoring 80 percent and junior Callie Bates, senior Nathanael Feleke, sophomore Alexandria Scuderi, junior Cooper Nelson and senior Alisha Thomas were awarded honorable mention.

“Attaining a medal or honorable mention for any student on the National Spanish Examinations is very prestigious,” said Kevin Cessna-Buscemi, national director of the exams, “because the exams are the largest of their kind in the U.S. with over 157,000 students participating in 2015.”

Students from Foxcroft Academy were taught by Spanish teacher Mirna Reyes-Henderson and have demonstrated a long history of high achievement on the National Spanish Examinations, which are administered each year in grades 6-12 and are sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese.
