Runners earn their whoopie pies
DOVER-FOXCROFT — Kicking off the Maine Whoopie Pie Festival this year, as it has for the past several years, is the Piscataquis Regional YMCA Earn Your Whoopie Pie 3K Run/Walk and Kid’s 1K Fun Run. The race, sponsored by J.D. Raymond Transport and the Y’s Healthy Community Project, aims to remind people to enjoy their whoopie pies responsibly and keep physically active.
The Kid’s 1K fun run (ages 3 to 12) starts at 8 a.m. and is free or for a fee if the kids would like to get a T-shirt. The adult race/walk (ages 13 and up) starts at 8:30 and is at a rate per person. Both races start at the fire station in downtown Dover-Foxcroft. To pre-register or for more information call the PRYMCA at 564-7111.
