ABBOT, ME & HAVERHILL, MA – Madeline P. (Sinclair) Vainio, 95, formerly of Abbot, passed away peacefully, June 16, 2015, with family by her side at Wingate Healthcare, Haverhill, MA. She was born September 20, 1919, in Guilford, ME, the daughter of Alton and Lillian (Brooks) Sinclair.
She attended Guilford Schools where she excelled in her classes. She married Laurie Henry Vainio on November 28, 1936. She moved to Monson and began raising her family. She loved her new life among the Finnish people where she learned to speak Finnish and became a great cook. She and her husband had 11 children and worked hard and long on the farm in Abbot where she kept busy cooking, canning meat and vegetables, and caring for her children. Her great joy in life were her children and her family.
She is survived by five sons, Laurie and his wife, Simone of Mesick, MI, Paul and his wife, Louise of Blanchard, Galen and his wife, Donna, Carl, and Robert and his wife, Cindy, all of Abbot; four daughters, Lillian and her husband, Arthur of North Andover, MA, Rita of New Vineyard, ME, Linda and her husband, Don of Warren, ME, and Joline and her husband, Harold of Port Clyde, ME; 25 grandchildren, Gary and his wife, Tracy, Darlene Kulczycki, Lisa Mountford, Steven Vainio and his wife, Shirleen, Tammie and Jennifer Vainio, Elizabeth Champagne, Trudy and her husband, Tim Lonesky, Garrett Vainio and his wife, Jennifer, Tracy Gray, Brandi Coburn and her husband, Jesse, Lauri Vainio and his wife, Sarah, Karen, Diaz and her husband, Jesus, Rhonda Kitabjian and her husband, Ara, Kristine Leahy and her husband, Peter, Laurie Ford and her husband, Bob, Matthew Storer, Amy Lane and her husband, Steve, Ruby Turner and her husband, Darcy, Toby Reckards, Jenny Miller and her husband, Dan, Birch Champeon and his wife, Connie, Anthony, Loukas and Josiah Wilson; 35 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
She was predeceased by her husband; two daughters, Trudy Marie Vainio and Kathryn Storer; a son-in-law, Steve Reckards; a granddaughter, Julie Ann Vainio; and a grandson, Ori Fred Reckards.

Friends called Friday, June 19, 2015, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Crosby & Neal, 21 Oak Street, Guilford. Funeral services were held 11:30 a.m., Saturday, June 20, 2015, at the Abbot Evangelical Free Church, Abbot, ME, with Pastor Rogan Taylor officiating. Burial will be in Abbot Village Cemetery.
