Foxcroft Academy’s Nelson fourth in javelin at freshman track championship

Several athletes from the area took part in the Penobscot Valley Conference Freshman Outdoor Track and Field Championship on June 3 at Hampden Academy.

Foxcroft Academy’s Avery Nelson came in fourth in the javelin with a throw of 63 feet, 11 inches. Nelson also placed eighth in the discus at 58-03.

Virginia Macomber of Foxcroft was eight in the 1,600 with a time of 7 minutes and .8 seconds, and she also came in ninth in the 800 at 3:20.51.

Piscataquis Community High School’s Alyssa Pear-Ross placed 13th in the shot put with a throw of 18-11.25 and she also was 15th in the discus at 49-01.

Cali Turner of PCHS came in 16th in both the shot and discus with respective throws of 16-03.50 and 42-04.

In the boys’ competition, Foxcroft’s Eliphalet Campbell finished 13th in the 100 with a time of 14.61 seconds.
