Ground broken on Harrigan Learning Center

MILO – Tom and Nancy Harrigan, members of  Three Rivers Kiwanis Milo-Brownville, aren’t ready to retire that gold shovel just yet.

Contractors and Kiwanians gathered for a groundbreaking ceremony and photo at the Kiwanis lot in the Eastern Piscataquis Business Park in Milo. Work officially began on the Harrigan Learning Center on May 26 at 10:30 a.m.

In their travels around the globe the Harrigans have gathered fossils and artifacts which will be on display in the new center. Viewing the collection will be a painless learning experience for the most reluctant scholar. A fossilized tooth will interest some while others will enjoy viewing a real African ceremonial mask. Schools in the area will have another learning tool to help educate our children. Visiting the Harrigan Learning Center will allow every visitor to see more of our world without ever leaving town.

The building will be heated and cooled by heat pump(s) and electrical power will come from solar energy – a winning combination of antiquities and modern technology.
