Mayo named 10th cleanest hospital in national survey

DOVER-FOXCROFT — Fifty two hospitals were recognized with the cleanest patient rooms and bathrooms in a patient survey collected by Becker Hospital Review. The list of hospitals needed to achieve a patient score of 89 percent or more with patients stating that their rooms and bathrooms were “always” clean on their HCAHPS survey.  Data was pulled from Hospital Compare website and was gathered from January through December 2013, which is the most recent data available for this survey.

While the national average for hospitals that took the survey was 74 percent, Mayo Regional Hospital scored in the 93rd percentile achieving their top 10 ranking. Mayo Regional Hospital was among a total of three Maine hospitals receiving this recognition.

Nikki Chadwick RN, vice president of education and quality, stated, “This is a wonderful honor to be recognized for the hard work of our housekeeping staff and all other staff that work hard to maintain the environment of Mayo Regional Hospital. Hospital cleanliness is an important part of patient safety and infection control. We are very proud of our facility and the staff that are dedicated in providing a clean healthcare facility.”
