Memorial scholarship applications available

   PARKMAN — The Parkman Grange announces immediate availability of application packages for 2015 Minnie Welts Bridge Memorial Scholarships. Packages may be picked up at the Parkman Town Office. Applicants must have graduated from high school and be currently enrolled (in good academic standing) in a legitimate institution of continuing education (i.e., community college, technical school, or four-year college or university). The application deadline is Friday, May 29, no exceptions. Awards will be announced at the memorial supper on July 18.

   Welts Bridge passed away at 102 years of age on Aug. 14, 2011. She was a lifelong resident of Parkman. Welts Bridge was a retired school teacher, having taught in various Parkman schools for 29 years, and a life member of Parkman Grange #305. The Grange has established the Minnie Welts Bridge Memorial Scholarship Fund to benefit deserving Parkman residents. The Grange hopes to annually award one or more scholarships of $500 each, funded through donations and their annual supper in Welt Bridge’s name.
