GUILFORD — Community Fitness has announced that their new gym floor is being installed this week.
“Our hard work, fundraising efforts, and generous support from the community have helped us nearly reach our goal to completely pay for the new floor,” said Executive Director Gayle Worden. “We will continue to fundraise until we’ve raised all of the money needed. Meanwhile, we will have our awesome new floor to play on!”

FLOOR PLAN — A rough sketch of the “Floor of Fame” at Community Fitness is posted on the center’s bulletin board.

Because of this installation, fitness classes will not be held through Saturday, May 9. They will resume with a slightly different schedule on the May 11, Worden said. The new schedule will be posted at www.comfitme.com and also on the Community Fitness Facebook page.
“One of our fundraising efforts is an online auction,” Worden said. “This will be held via an event page off our Community Fitness Facebook page. If you have a Facebook account, you will be able to find it quickly, and we will be promoting it, sharing, and inviting our friends to the event.
The auction began May 1 and will run throughout the month, featuring different items each week. They will also be posting photos of the items in our lobby so those who aren’t Facebook friends may also participate. “This is a new effort, so be patient with us if we have a few bugs to begin with,” Worden added. “We’ve received some wonderful items for the auction!
Community Fitness still has a few floor squares available for anyone who would like to have their name included on the “Floor of Fame.”
Community Fitness was established in 2003 as a nonprofit fitness and community center. It’s been located at the former Guilford Primary School since 2010.
Their mission is to promote a healthy lifestyle through various forms of physical exercise, nutritional counsel, holistic health services and education for citizens of all ages and income levels.
As a 501(c)(3) organization, they also offer scholarship rates for those who are income eligible.
