Sinclair inducted into UMFK Athletic Hall of Fame

    FORT KENT — Former Dexter resident Whitney Sinclair, who played her high school soccer at John Bapst Memorial High School in Bangor, was one of four new members inducted into the University of Maine-Fort Kent Athletic Hall of Fame Class of 2015 on March 21.

    Sinclair led the Lady Bengals soccer team to back-to-back United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) National Championships in 2010 and 2011. She was a three-time Sunrise                         Conference Player of the Year, who led the NAIA and USCAA in scoring during all four of her playing seasons. Sinclair broke the school record at UMFK with 131 goals and added 56 assists for 319 points, while leading her teams to an overall record of 67 wins, eight losses and one tie. She was named Sunrise Conference Rookie of the year, two-time USCAA All-American 1st Team selection and 2010 USCAA National Tournament Most Valuable Player.
    Sinclair was a member of the Student Nursing Organization. In 2011, she was named UMFK Female Athlete of the Year. As a student, she worked as a certified nurse’s aide for nursing homes and home health care services. Sinclair played one year for the Maine Tide, a women’s premier soccer team. In the community, she has coached soccer and softball.
    A 2014 graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Sinclair works at Acadia Psychiatric Hospital in Bangor providing mental health services aimed at helping children.
