Horizon Scholarship applications now available to FA underclassmen and SeDoMoCha MS eighth-graders
DOVER-FOXCROFT — The Horizon Scholarships were established in an attempt to expand academic opportunities and enhance the personal and academic growth of Foxcroft Academy students. Although a finite number of students will be selected to receive scholarship awards, the intent is that the Horizon Scholarship Program will impact all students by raising awareness of the many academic opportunities that exist beyond the walls of Foxcroft Academy.

FA HORIZON SCHOLAR — Foxcroft Academy junior Racquel Bozzelli, far right, attended the Templeton Honors College Summer Scholars Program in Davis, PA. last summer, through a Horizon Scholarship.
The Horizon Scholarships were established by the trustees of Foxcroft Academy. The program is funded by endowed Horizon Scholarship funds and revenue generated at the Homecoming Golf Scramble, which is held at Foxcroft Golf Club during Alumni Weekend each summer. Thanks to the generous support of alumni, friends, community members, faculty, staff and trustees, $7,900 was awarded to FA students last year.
The Horizon Scholarship is intended to provide financial support for experiential learning experiences that are not presently offered at Foxcroft Academy. Any student presently in grade 8, 9, 10 or 11 who is (or will be) enrolled as a full-time student at Foxcroft Academy next year is eligible to apply. The program is intended for summer experiences; however, consideration will be given to special programs offered during the school year. All past recipients — excluding current seniors — are encouraged to apply.
Applications can be picked up from Roberta Johnston in the main office or Cathy Hall in the Packard Center, and eighth-graders may pick one up in the counseling services office at SeDoMoCha. For a digital version of the application, please email Hall at cathy.hall@foxcroftacademy.org.
The application deadline is Friday, April 10. Awards will be paid directly to the institution or organization sponsoring the activity upon proper verification of the applicant’s acceptance.
Upon completion of the program attended, scholarship recipients will be required to share their experiences with the FA community. Within one month of returning, recipients must submit for publication a short essay and at least one picture of themselves at their particular program. Recipients may also be asked to speak in assembly about their experience.
Scholarships will be awarded to applicants after careful review of the application, essay, and references. Financial need will be considered, but this scholarship is not a needs-based one.
