County MEA presents litters to Greenville FD

GREENVILLE — On March 4, Piscataquis County Emergency Management Agency and Director Thomas Capraro presented two rescue litters to Greenville Fire Department and Fire Chief Matthew St. Laurent.
Purchase of the litters was made possible by Homeland Security Grant Program funds allotted to the Piscataquis County EMA.

The Greenville Fire Department had expressed a need for more portable, lightweight litters to assist in rescues in remote locations, and Capraro said he “felt the need was a priority given the number of rescues that take place in inaccessible areas surrounding Greenville.”
Those rescue litters will be used to securely immobilize patients requiring removal from remote locations to an ambulance for further medical treatment.
The litter’s two-piece design enables rescuers to easily transport them to the scene of a remote incident by backpacking them in or by ATV.
