Community efforts will raise funds for the Children’s Miracle Network

    DOVER-FOXCROFT — Each year Rite Aid employees across the U.S. participate and volunteer their time and efforts to fund raise to benefit the Children’s Miracle Network (CMN). Julie Pingree, wellness ambassador at the Rite Aid in Dover-Foxcroft, grew up in Dover-Foxcroft, attended SeDoMoCha and graduated from Foxcroft Academy. Pingree has contacted both schools and local businesses to create a Dover-Foxcroft community outreach event for CMN.

    Several events are scheduled for the month of April. First, Pat’s Pizza in Dover-Foxcroft will host a 10 percent day, where 10 percent of all sales on Thursday, April 9 will be donated to this community effort for CMN. Customers who eat at Pat’s Pizza on April 9th,2015 will be entered for a $20 gift card and door prizes.
    On Saturday, April 18, Foxcroft Academy is participating by hosting a faculty vs. student basketball game at 2 p.m.  — all ticket sales will be donated to the CMN. Half-time events will include local youth basketball game, door prizes, 50/50 raffle and more.
    In addition from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. local churches and crafters can participate by having a table in the lobby to sell goods and food for a donation per table.     Nearly 30 businesses have donated gift cards and items to create a community raffle. Community raffle tickets will be sold for a Mother’s Day basket, Father’s Day basket, spring basket and entertainment basket with a value of over $125 each. Raffle tickets can be purchased directly from Pingree at Rite Aid during the week from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. or Saturdays 10 a.m.-1 p,m., on April 9 at Pat’s Pizza from 4-7 p.m. and at Foxcroft Academy on April 18 from 11 a.m.-4 p.m.
    Other raffles will be held at the SeDoMoCha School, where fundraising will take place until April 17. All elementary students will be entered for a boys’ bicycle or girls’ bicycle and various smaller prizes. SeDoMoCha Middle School will have a raffle for gift cards at the student vs. faculty volleyball game. Students in both elementary and middle school will also submit a raffle for their favorite teacher/administrator at SeDoMoCha. All raffles will be drawn at SeDoMoCha events by mid-May. All winners and fundraising results will be listed in the Piscataquis Observer following the end of this community outreach.
    Assistant manager Jenny Larson is hosting the second annual Dover-Foxcroft Rite Aid Baby Contest. Participants may submit a 4-by-6 landscape photo of children from a newborn to age 3. Photos will not be returned.
    Through April 24, to win, friends and family place money in the slot above the child’s picture. Small thank-you prizes will be awarded to the fundraisers and winners’ photos with names will be placed in the paper as a thank you.
