Maine Warden Service celebrates 135th anniversary at annual awards banquet

    ROCKPORT — On March 15 the Maine Warden Service celebrated its 135th anniversary at the Samoset Resort. Included in the celebration was the annual awards banquet that gives special recognition to game wardens for their performance in 2014.

    Exemplary Service Award recipients include Sgt. Glenn Annis (a resident of Dover Foxcroft) and Game Wardens Jeremy Kemp (Sangerville), Will Shuman (Rockwood), Troy Dauphinee (Shirley) and Jared Herrick (Harmony). A certificate for Exemplary Service shall be presented when, in the opinion of the awards board, a warden has rendered relevant outstanding service which deserves special recognition.
    One of the Meritorious Service Award recipients is Warden Pilot Charlie Later (Greenville), The Meritorious Service Awards shall be presented for conduct above the ordinary course of duty, when a game warden, because of individual or team initiative, courage and diligence, places themselves in danger while performing their duties.
