Upcoming responsible beverage sales classes

DOVER-FOXCROFT — The Piscataquis Public Health Council, a local Healthy Maine Partnership, is offering two free responsible beverage sales classes both to be held at Mayo Regional Hospital’s Resource Center in the Sebec Conference Room.
    Class dates are March 5 from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for a server training (on-site consumption) and March 6 from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. will be seller training (off-site consumption)

This state approved server and seller training will cover the following topics: Identifying minors and visibly intoxicated patrons (VIPs); intervention to prevent a visibly intoxicated patron from driving; how alcohol is ingested and metabolized by the body; what alcoholism is and how alcohol affects the body; false ID detection and carding policy (you and your establishment are liable for accepting a false ID); the importance of good written policies; and the Liquor Liability Act.
Quality training has proven to be an effective tool to prevent costly violations, instill more confidence in your employees and possibly reduce Liquor Liability Insurance (check your insurance provider).
Upon successfully completing the program, attendees will be registered with the Maine Department of Public Safety, Liquor Licensing and receive a certificate that is good for five years.
Every establishment whose attendee successfully completes the program will also receive one free ID Checking Guide (limit one per business).
Instructor Frank Lyons is a 30 year law enforcement veteran. Lyons was a liquor enforcement officer and trainer for the Department of Public Safety.
This training is being offered by the Piscataquis Public Health Coalition, in partnership with Mayo Regional Hospital with funding provided by Maine’s Office of Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services.
For more information or to register, contact Lisa Kingsbury of the Piscataquis Public Health Council, a Local Healthy Maine Partnership, at 564-4184of lkingsbury@mayohospital.com.
