Dexter man indicted for robbery

Staff Report

SKOWHEGAN — A Dexter man who sustained four stab wounds during an alleged robbery in Harmony in October has been indicted by a Somerset County grand jury.
Gregory V. Hickey, 52, was arraigned on Jan. 28 on two felony charges – robbery and burglary – and two misdemeanors – assault and theft.

An indictment is an indication that enough evidence is present to proceed with trial.
Hickey was charged with breaking into a home Oct. 13 on Highland Avenue in Harmony and assaulted the owner. According to the Central Maine Morning Sentinel, the victim told police there were three men involved in the attack.
Detective Mathew Cunningham of the Somerset County Sheriff’s Department found Hickey in the emergency room of Mayo Regional Hospital, suffering from stab wounds a few hours after the alleged attack. A search warrant was carried out at Hickey’s home Oct. 20 and he was subsequently arrested.
The unidentified homeowner, who said he was acting in self-defense, has not been charged in the incident.
Hickey did not enter a plea and Skowhegan attorney John Martin has been appointed to represent him.
