Indoor track results

    ORONO — The Foxcroft Academy boys indoor track and field team finished fourth out of five teams, scoring 28 points, during an Eastern Maine Indoor Track League meet on Jan. 10 at the University of Maine.

    Junior Cooper Nelson was the meet’s first-place finisher in the two-mile. Nelson ran a time of 10 minutes, 53.37 seconds to win by over four seconds. Senior Peter Boyer had another top performance for the Ponies, as he threw the shot put 42 feet, 11.25 inches to win the event by a distance of eight inches.
    Placing third for Foxcroft was Paul Birtwistle in the 800, in a time of 2:22.38, as well as the Pony 4×800 relay team. Nelson, senior Nathnael Felke, sophomore Peter Xue and junior Gabe Piquette combined for a time of 9:43.07.
    Placing fourth and fifth in the 200 were senior Justin Diamond and sophomore Jason Eubanks with respective times of 25.41 and 25.63 seconds. Piquette added a fifth-place finish in the two-mile with a time of 11:47.62.
    In the girls’ meet, Foxcroft finished fifth of five teams with 17 points.
    Senior Fern Morrison had the fastest time in the 800, as her 2:31.5 time gave her first place by two seconds. Junior Desirae Brawn came in second in the shot put with a top throw of 28-02.
    The Ponies also had fourth and fifth place in the mile. Freshman Virginia Macomber was fourth with a time of 7:11.76 and in fifth place was senior Anna Sedlackova at 8:25.25.
