Shirley Bog Trail Busters’ Jan. 4 report

By Debi Baker

SHIRLEY — We had five inches of snow last night. The Shirley Bog Trail Busters have been working continuously on getting the trails ready, filling in many water areas and cutting away many blowdowns. We still are in process of clearing the CCC Road Trail from the Mahue Road to the York Road.

We dragged the Mahue Road Trail, Shirley Bypass Trail, part of the CCC Road Trail, Connector Road Trail, part of the Brochue Road Trail and the Draper Road Trail. There are many rough spots on the By Pass Trail due to now frozen water hazards and some icy washout spots on the CCC Road Trail and Mahue Road Trail.
Respect landowners and stay on marked trails. We have a new landowner that graciously is letting us cross his land from the Draper Road to the Shirley By Pass Trail and does not want us to sled over his blueberry bushes.
The Clouse Allen Road is being plowed, therefore no trail this season. Please stay off of all plowed roads. The Connector Road to the Draper Road has a logging operation working, so sled with caution. Logging operations are working very heavy this winter in the Shirley/Greenville area.
